Open Letter to ChillinIt

Open Letter to ChillinIt
Shoutout to my plant medicine ♥️🍄 My best friend Raq had free reign of my head before the ChillinIt concert. The concert was good, until that guy crashed into Raq at the front while trying to bash a girl. And when that guy in the mosh pit ‘accidentally’ grabbed my tit (like I haven’t seen that one before). To be honest I probably wouldn’t go back to a Chillinit concert without a group of guys. I’ve been to a lot of gigs in my life but that was fucked. It’s hard to enjoy yourself when you’re on constant fight or flight mode, scared your body is about to be violated - or worse for the girl out the front. I don’t think guys realise just how much of life we have to miss out on because of female oppression. There are parts of the world we simply can’t travel to. I could never dance in a club the way I dance at home. We’re basically on a curfew every night. But it’s not just us. There are many of us who don’t feel safe in this world. Many who are at risk to the darkness that exists in our collective, who walk home at night and feel it looming over their shoulder. People of trans, people of colour, even children. And I have to wonder where this evil comes from, because pretty much every man I know I consider to be good person - including the straight, white men. So where is this darkness? How can we identify it so we can defeat it? Was Carl Jung right about the collective unconscious - could this darkness be something that exists in every single one of us? Do we all oppress ourselves to the extent it manifests on an outward level? Oppress our femininity? Our sexuality? Our different? Is it possible this is something we can all explore as individuals, and conquer, so I no longer have to bustle through the night when going home, hoping tonight I am not the one who gets snatched? I guess what I’m really trying to understand is, how is it that majority of the population is oppressed?
